The railway was open during the depots ‘Family Fun’ open weekend on 13th & 14th July 2019. This time we had a newly built Scamp locomotive running alongside our two Met Vic locos (just like our previous scamp guest, but in LT red!). Unfortunately, early on the Sunday, Sarah Siddons suffered a motor fault which meant she was retired for the day. Michael began to suffer power problems and may need a battery replacement – we’ll get on to fixing these issues right away!
The weekend also saw the return of signals to the railway, a most welcome sight. For now, it is a very basic system covering both single lines. The line to Ealing End was detected via a prototype axle counter which mostly worked well. During Sunday, it struggled to count accurately and was turned off as we returned to token working for this line
Despite the motive power and signal problems, we were delighted to see we carried 1873 passengers, beating our record set in April. Thank you to everyone that paid us a visit, see you in September!
