March 2020 Update

NB: This update has been written towards the end of March 2020.

With the developing situation regarding Coronavirus, the team were acutely aware this could potentially be the last get together for a while.

Sarah Siddons bogie was replaced and tested OK. This was good, as Sarah has been out of action and a bit under the weather since the end of last year, so it’s great she’s finally back up and running.

The LTMR have a great secret that we REALLY wanted to share with you on our April open weekend. Unfortunately, that has been postponed due to the unfolding COVID 19 pandemic. We don’t want to ruin the surprise and reveal it here, but we promise it’s going to be really exciting for you next time you (and your little ones) visit.

The Ticket office upgrade project was completed, over budget but on time, and our ticketing team look forward to being able to use that in the coming months and years,

Elsewhere around the railway, our signaller guru resolved an issue with an axle counter head, installed new buttons and ran wires for our signalling system.

The shut down has paused this work for now, but undoubtedly, we must follow the government advice and we urge you to do the same at this time. Stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.

We all wish you the very best and hope to welcome you to our railway again the near future.
